Another old adage: 'Honesty is The Best Policy'

When I was young, I was told to always, always tell the truth. As I grew up, I discovered honesty was not always the best policy. (ookay.. let me finish here first. Lol)

There were circumstances that require “white lies” or even “bohong sunat” to get me out of awkward situations, or most of the times just to make people happy. Scary isn’t it but really, it happens.

The fact is my opinion will sometimes clash with others. For example, when someone wears an ugly shirt and he/she obviously likes it, I won’t offend him/her by being honest. Come on, give me a break for awhile there. He he. Another example, when I lack a certain skill or talent, I will not tell anyone, fearing inadequacy.

Especially in this hectic working life, I’ve realized it is best to hide this form of lackin’ in something from anyone and quietly try to improve our skills.

Truth is, I can see that most mortals out there (or even I) devote a lifetime to creating the perfect facade. We try to protect it. We nurture it. In the meantime, a shallow and meaningless, fruitless existence is shadowed by the lights of the lie.

‘Cos in a way sometimes honesty derailed. Honesty betrayed.

Yet.

Worry not love, for in a relationship, honesty counts. Big time.

Pinkie promise

Wherever possible, tell the truth, or at least don't lie. Experience tells me that this is by far definitely the best policy. Lies are usually to cover up or give an inflated impression of success or expertise, right.

People underestimate how hard it is to lie. Guess what, we have to have a good memory and eye for detail to be a convincing liar.Yeap. Bad lies are easily detected and the damage done when discovered is just not worth it.

I had this one rather funny experience of a friend where she totally forgot the original lines of her make-up story that in the end, she actually forgot who’s who and what’s what. Told ‘ya it’s not easy to lie.

So. There is no need to lie when being honest works better.

Always.

"A rose by any other word would smell as sweet" - Shakespeare

Dear Diary,

He charmingly did it again.

Exactly about 2.10pm yesterday, 27th of April, a tall, sun-burned, middle aged Chinese guy waited for me with a dazzling bouquet of scarlet roses in his arms. In front of the main entrance of the faculty, he was lingering back and forth where the staff and senior Profs and minors walking in and out either just going out for lunch or simply just got back, glancing at him (or maybe the roses, or or maybe at his eccentric lookin' light brown ankle boot).

Remember when I told you before that I prefer having flower delivery at the workplace than at home? Now am totally numb I can hardly say for sure. All I know, either one, I love it!

Beyond words.

Some of the female staff behind the counter were grinning from ear to ear, watching my every step. Believe me dear diary; my heart was pumping like hell.

One of his sweetest gestures ever and I can’t thank him enough. Trust me when I say this; I am literally falling head over heels.

"The rose speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart"

Old adage rings true

*A short break

I’ve been hearing and reading in the news about this 47 year old woman. The one from the reality show, Britain’s Got Talent..(gees.. I have never watched such program, even the American one. So I guess she’s my revolutionist in recent entertainment world).

I never got the chance to look up the net until this morning, and honestly, I’m hooked to it. I haven’t stopped watching her or to be exact, listening to her. She is extraordinary and take it y’all, ‘Never judge a book by its cover’, babe. Never.

This old adage could not have been better exemplified than with Susan and her singing. It was a not-so-subtle reminder that we are not to judge anyone by looks or appearances. Simple lesson there.

If you haven’t seen her singing that heavy-duty song, check it out here. So implausibly enchanting.

At first, everyone was cheerily mocking and laughing at her, I dunno maybe of her look, her age anything but then the moment she opened her mouth, there you have it. Goosebumps, y’all!! Even that Simon what's-his-name was thunderstuck.

Totally.

And now, this one of the gorgeous actresses ever, Catherine Zeta Jones wants a piece of Susan. Even her. Gees. Read the rest down here:

Catherine Zeta Jones asks to play Susan Boyle on screen

By Ben Leach

The 39-year-old apparently asked about the film rights to the singer's life story after being inspired by her appearance on Britain's Got Talent. The Hollywood actress contacted the producers of the show after Miss Boyle became a huge hit in the US, the Daily Mail reported.

James Cameron, the Oscar-winning film director behind Titanic, is also believed to have expressed an interest in a similar project.

Miss Boyle, a church volunteer from West Lothian, Scotland, has become a worldwide star after her performance on the ITV show several weeks ago.

Footage of her singing I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables has become the most viewed YouTube clip of all time with more than 100million hits. Miss Boyle has been dubbed the "hairy angel" because of her frizzy hair cut and bushy eyebrows - and she claims to have never been kissed or had a boyfriend.

Zeta-Jones, the Welsh-born actress, is regularly voted one of the world's most beautiful women and is married to Hollywood legend, Michael Douglas. A source on Britain's Got Talent told the Daily Mail: "This is one of many requests we have had to play her [Miss Boyle], for movie deals and for stories of her life.

"All these people are coming out and want to be associated with her. She is the biggest thing in the world." A spokesman for Miss Boyle said she was unwilling to comment.

Movie Review #6: Fast & Furious

I watched this movie simply because one, 'Fast and Furious', two, Paul Walker and three, the entire original cast is back. And yeah Dom looks hotter this time around. I wonder why.. LOL.

I can hardly stay here for I have bundles of scripts to mark but hell, before I come to the point where the desk looks like gooey, stale piece of rubbertape and the smell of my already yucky cold coffee starts to mess up my still-functioning nose, I do believe I should like say something, or type something before it's too late. (And guess what, I glanced around my office for a sec there lookin' for a cup, a pail, a bucket, a plastic anything to... you knoe.. Yuck!)

Where was I? Oh yea.. Paul Walker.

This is hardly a review 'ya knoe cos' one thing for sure, we watched it about last 2 weeks, and right this minute am having trouble recalling the plots. It has lost its X factor. It's..what should I call it..err.. Ummph! Yeah it has lot it's Ummph! Ha ha.

Okay get this. Am not saying it has turned to a silly one but there's not much car-racing in it and car racing is one of the reasons we all love Fast & Furious, right. So my question, why would anyone want to watch this movie if it doesn't have a lot of car-racing in it?

Boys (and men for that matter) would happily dig this movie cos' most of the times the screen filled with nearly naked hot chickas... so bet they all love it.

Granted, like I said earlier that it does not have as much car racing as I would have liked, but the actions are still great.

It is a fun flick but not revolutionary. As simple as that.

So there. Just go and watch it. And by the way, the movie ends leaving you guessin' and wantin' more. (*exhales. hate it when they do that..)

I want to stay for I miss blogging but unfortunately, I have to get back to those sickening scripts again. See ya'.

'Sleep like a baby' vs. Insomnia

I wrote an entry about having trouble sleeping before where it was a regular phenomenon to me. Well it still is, actually.

However last night, I slept like a baby. A rare feat, 'ya knoe.

But wait, I remember exactly the day I mentioned about my lack of sleep to a colleague (who just about 3 months ago gave birth to an adorable baby boy) who babbled, "Wish you could sleep like a baby? Gees. 'Sleep like a baby'. Hmm.. Whoever created this “saying” must have never had babies, LIKE YOU, or were the luckiest parents ever."

And there I stood, numb, blinking at her.

Thing is, studies suggested that most babies actually do not get a full night of sleep, actually waking up several times during the night for feeding, cuddling and urinating. Geez.
Suddenly, right this minute I remember that horrid moment playing The Sim ('ya knoe, the computer game?) where we need to really feed and play with robotic, irritating babies?

But still, for me 'Sleep like a baby' is such a cute saying to potray deep, sound sleep. Which I managed to have last night.

Too soundly, I presume? he he. Yikes.

Wise Man : Part 8 'Change: A Reform?'

Me : I’ve noticed that people change along the way.

WM : Since when? 2 hours ago?

Me : (sighs) No really, why do people change?

WM : Actually babe, there are probably almost as many theories on why people change, in terms of their behavior and also beliefs.

Me : Why?

WM : Because we are all just mortals. Sometimes whether we like it or not, people change.

Me : I don’t like it too much I guess when someone, anyone that I used to know inside out acts differently.

WM : People tend to change when the rewards for change exceed the pain of change.

Me : Uh?

WM : You’ll see.
