Of jerawat rindu & buddies huggin'
This is to a certain extent a short reminisce of an incident that intrigued me one day. It still manages to make me smile. Up til now.
About a week ago, I had these two big, rather irksome, pinkish pimples; one on my right cheek and the other one around the chin area. Am tellin’ ya, they were perceptible. And guess what, both of them seemed to slowly fade away while I was away on a short trip.
He said that those must have been ‘jerawat rindu’. Yikes!
Anyways.
Last Saturday, on the 13th of July, we went to this dear friend of mine, Peed’s wedding in Soromban and boy..she looked so pretty and amazingly in high spirits, (come la Suria, getting’ married ma..of ‘cos la happy what) hugging her husband.
I am so happy for her.
And what really happened was, me together with my other two wacko buddies, Nana and Dila entered (hold up. We didn’t actually enter the bride’s room. We simply ambushed!) Peed’s room and in no time at all, surrounded them on the bed and in a blink of an eye, started posing in front of the three hired photographers. Even funnier, we kept on posing taking full advantage of the photographers’ talented gift to take our pics using our own cameras after that. In the bride and groom’s room! LOL
Eventho it was a quick get-together for us, it was hugely appreciated and enjoyable. The moment we laid eyes on each other, we couldn’t stop talking and trust me when I tell you this, I didn’t even notice the makciks and pakciks around us. It was so much fun.
All in all, I had a blast. Totally.
On top of that, I managed to sleep wonderfully (without having to stare up the ceiling, blinking for two hours before finally dozing off for maybe three hours top) for four nights in a row, man.
How cool is that?
Yay!

Wise Man : Part 9 'Truth hurts, lies worse II'
WM : Well.. sometimes the truth does hurt but it is still worth knowing or telling. Though it can sting, in the long run the truth will be extremely beneficial to someone and it is worth the initial pain.
Me : Then how come people still tell lies?
WM : 'Cos they're bored? (chuckles)
Me : One of the reasons. LOL
WM : Truth is, nowadays in our modern world, no one is a repository of truth, but many are of lies. I guess most think that by not telling the truth, they can somehow be protected from being hurt.
Me : You mean, like some sort of a defense mechanism?
WM : I guess. Okay, just imagine if you gotta choose between tellin' the truth or simply lie. Actually, I'd never really admit this, but I'd rather choose the latter, 'ya knoe.
Me : No doubt at all.
WM : However, let's not talk about me. Okay, just think about it.. if you have to choose. If you tell a lie, then you have to live a lie and in order to live a lie, you have to remember all the lies you tell and to whom. 'Cos, remembering the lies becomes quite a heavy burden.
Me : (sighs) Tell me about it...
WM : Hold up, babe. Why are we having this conversation?
Me : Wait. One more question. Do you think by not telling is the same as lying?
WM : Uh?
Me : (cutting in) Someone told me that it's not entirely the same 'cos when you lie to someone you are going against the truth, while not telling is just withholding it, not that they need to know, either to not hurt that person or to make things less worse. Make sense?
WM : But it depends on the context, babe. And you know what, for me omission aka not telling is just as bad, if not worse, than lying.
Me : Owh?
WM : Maybe I'm not the best person to say this but ... truth hurts, but lies hurt more. Geddit?
Me : Aye aye sir!

Ada apa dengan 'renjis-renjis dipilis'?
Weddings tend to happen in clusters, right. Colourful, classic invitation cards are now pouring in. It seems as if wedding chimes are soon ringing everywhere or better yet, in Malay context, ‘paluan kompang’ and Saloma’s ‘Selamat Pengantin Baru’ evergreen song are due to be heard.
Last weekend, I should have spent some quality jolly time in Bahau, Nogori Sembilan to commemorate one of my closest buddies, Bahau’s wedding. His real name is Azrul but we all call him Bahau, for he’s from Bahau. Don’t ask me why we don’t call our other friend Teriang eventho he’s from there. I nearly close to bangin’ my head against the wall for missing his once-in-a-lifetime event but geez.. there’s nothing else I could do. I was heavily attached to something else.
Thank God he understands but tell me, how in the world can I post him a house as a gift? Lol.
That reminds me, I also regrettably missed my best buddy, Intan Suraya’s glorious wedding in Kuala Kangsar last October which I was initially appointed as her ‘pengapit’. In fact my specially tailored dress for the occasion was just hangin’ in the closet, waiting to be glamorously put on. Such a shame.
Berg aka Hafeez is also tying the knot on 7th of June. So now with Bahau and Berg happily immersed in the bliss of companionship, I can say that more than three quarter of the boys in my class back in MRSM are wedded. And that leaves us girls behind.. (well.. maybe just 3-4 of us girls..)
Next case, 13th of June, my petite girlfriend cum U classmate, Peed aka Afidah is getting married in Soromban. Then another friend from U, Pa’ Wan aka Izwan (once my on-stage hubby..auw) is also tying the knot the week after that, 20th of June.
Like I said earlier, it's definitely the mating season, ya? Ha ha.
Congratulations, guys.
I can list down more of my friends that either already married or are anxiously and avariciously waiting for the big day but let’s not do that today. Am telling’ ya, it’s a one long list, babe..
I remember about a couple of weeks ago when my mom called me from home and read me all the invitation cards through phone. She seemed to enjoy reading the cards (she calls them ‘surat saman’) and guess what, between the lines she managed to slot in her frail sighs which I opted to ignore. ‘Cos I know she, like other mothers, is truly looking forward to my own big day.
Yikes.
It’s not that I haven’t realized the invisible-constant knockin’ on my cognizant mind; it’s just that I go for having the ‘situation’ left unattended. At least for the moment. And really, I don’t even need constant yappin’ here and there from makciks asking and wonderin’ when my turn would somehow magically show up, with unstoppable blasting of kompang to heat up the whole Gong Limau. So Cyeda, I dig ‘ya, gal.
I don't begrudge my friends who have married and forsaken me. Nope. Never. I'm happy for them. So happy.
Happy, blissful married life, ey? Wow. I mean, now that many of my friends are married and getting married, I guess my circle of hang out buddies is getting smaller, day by day. But sure enough, perhaps they’d still have time for ..'ya know, a cuppa once in awhile?
Yea right.
Who am I kidding? Myself?
*sighs

The Queen of My Heart
I can actually spend hours just talking about my mother. She's everything to me, rolled into one. She's definitely my trusted confidant, my best friend for she knows everything..wait.. almost everything. He he.
She would always praise me for making good choices in life, but geez, would also scold me like there's no tomorrow when I do wrong (which is actually a rare occasion for I am such a good, obedient daughter..he he).
My beautiful mother, she's actually the one who teaches me that the art of laughter is much more valuable than the most precious stone. I mean, laughter is mostly the cure for things, right. We love to laugh (and sometimes way too much and too loud) and guess what, when she was alot younger, (am being nice here) people called her 'The He he he Girl' for she was such a jovial girl.

Madam Hamizah Zabidin (always a major drama queen, seen here with 2 adorable future heartbreakers)
I love my mother. More than anything the world. No contest.
Seriously. I knoe you guys out there claim that your mother is the best. Well, y'all have to fight me on this one 'cos my mama is the best. Ever.
Okay. Okay. Our mothers are simply the best. Satisfied, now? Lol.
Hail all mothers in the world. You guys totally rock!
And mama?
"You're the queen of my heart
Your love is like tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin' you is like food to my soul.."
Happy Mother's Day. I love you.
p/s: I've always had a soft spot for 'A song for mama' by Boys II Men.

Movie Review #7 : He's Just Not That Into You
The movie opens with a young boy hitting a little girl and telling her she is made of dog poo poo. The girl’s mother explains to her that when a boy says mean things to a girl, it means he likes her. Mean but cute.
Then, cut to present day and a world of women completely screwed up because they have no clue how to understand men.

It is one sharp, astringent comedy on mainly the 21st-century dating mechanisms and such and I surely sure that most people out there are hugely attracted to the movie largely because it has many famous actors in it. Of all the cast, I opt for Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Alex (Justin Long).
That Alex, I remember back then when he was just a really minor actor, most of the time acting as nerd or rather someone who everyone avoids bumping to. But look at him now, wow, acting along Drew, Aniston and Affleck. Cool, ey?
Meanwhile, Goodwin is great as the awkwardly desperate girl-next-door that is trying to find the love of her life, while her girlfriends are comfortable in their multi-year relationships. I won't talk about the other friends of hers like Jennifer Connelly and Aniston cos' their characters are just simple. Simply.I guess, for about two hours, I enjoyed the movie. And I think my partner loved it more than me eventho' it's obvious it is a chick flick. Ha ha. Gotcha!
There is this one superb monologue, by Drew Barrymore that I like who complains that she is driven crazy by the ways guys always seem to be communicating in another medium. She calls at home but he doesn't pick up. She calls on his cell, and he e-mails her. She texts him. He Twitters back and leaves coded hints on MySpace. She tries snail mail. He apparently never learned how to open one.
It is hilarious when she stresses that she yearns for the days when people had one telephone and one answering machine, and a guy had either definitely called you, or he had not. Nowadays it' is unbelievably exhausting to keep track of things. Totally exhausting.
I mean, just listening to her saying all those words already exhausting.
The movie is quite entertaining. I mean, you don't really have to put your special thinking cap on.
There are likable moments here and there. I'm not saying I never laughed. I am saying, though, that I laughed more at that misleading YouTube video, and that as a whole He's Just Not That Into You is just not that good. The video in which the three rather funny cast members including Alex assured wary men that the film is not a generic chick flick, offering as proof a list of 10 chick-flick clichés that the movie does not have.
Truthfully, for me, that video, while it’s funny (actually funnier than the film) is somewhat disingenuous. But what the hell. You have to watch it.
Watch it here.
So.
He's Just Not That Into You vs. Love, Actually?
I vote for the latter.
Definitely.
